The Special Characteristics use case in Catena-X enables the standardized exchange of critical product characteristics across the supply chain. These characteristics are used to identify features that have a significant impact on product quality, safety, compliance, or functionality.
The Quality use case provides a broad range of features. The Data Space Accelerator (DSA) program only requires participants to demonstrate the Special Characteristics feature to receive financial compensation. The DSA participant must supply two core data sets: (1) part-related information using the SerialPart data model, and (2) Special Characteristics information associated with the part, exposed through the Eclipse Dataspace Connector (EDC).
Prerequisites
Completed onboarding to Cofinity-X (see Program Overview)
A suitable EDC solution connected via the Marketplace
Your Asset, Access and Usage Policy, and Contract Definition creation flow set up per the Catena-X Industry Core standards
Step 1: Create your SerialPart and Special Characteristics Digital Twin
Your SerialPart data must follow the SerialPart Semantic model schema.
Your Special Characteristics data must follow the Special Characteristics Measurement schema.
Use "digitalTwinType": "PartInstance" when creating the Digital Twin. Both submodels attach to the same twin.
Your shell descriptor's submodelDescriptors must reference your Asset ID(s) and your dspEndpoint.
See the Asset Management API walkthrough for syntax.
Step 2: Set your DTR Access and Usage Policy
Usage policy must reference FrameworkAgreement: DataExchangeGovernance:1.0 and UsagePurpose: cx.core.digitalTwinRegistry:1.
Access policy must reference Membership: active and grant access to Cofinity-X's BPN: BPNLCOFINITYEZFA.
Step 3: Set your Submodel Access and Usage Policy
Usage policy must reference FrameworkAgreement: DataExchangeGovernance:1.0 and UsagePurpose: cx.core.industrycore:1.
Access policy must reference Membership: active and grant access to Cofinity-X's BPN: BPNLCOFINITYEZFA.
See the Catena-X ODRL Profile for constraint syntax for both policies above.
Step 4: Notify Cofinity-X
Send an email to [email protected] with your EDC endpoint and BPNL.
What happens next
Cofinity-X will consume and validate your data against Catena-X requirements. Upon successful validation, the participant is officially recognized as Dataspace Ready and receives the Data Readiness Certificate in the DSA portal.
