To share certificates with Volkswagen via Dataspace OS, follow the steps below.

Updated today

Mandatory prerequisites:

Before sharing certificates, ensure that the following prerequisites are completed:

  1. Cofinity-X Portal Onboarding
You must be successfully onboarded to the Cofinity-X Portal and have selected Dataspace OS as your certificate management solution.

  2. Data Governance Credentials
Request your Data Governance Credentials by following the instructions provided in the guide.

  3. Get your BPNS for each individual site to which a certificate will apply:

    a. Provisioning sites for the onboarded legal entity (the one which has a wallet and Portal access) can be done by adding the information via "Your Company" -> "Your sites and addresses"

    b. Provisioning sites and addresses for the sub-legal entities (Virtual Participants), can be done following the steps:

    • the Virtual Participant has to be successfully onboarded (see more details here);

    • via "Managing companies", the option to add sites and addresses for the Virtual Participant will be then available to provision through.

  4. Access to Dataspace OS
Ensure that you can successfully sign in to Dataspace OS before proceeding, by following these steps.

Certificate sharing:

Once all prerequisites are fulfilled and BPNS have been issued for all relevant locations, you can proceed with certificate sharing.

Volkswagen uses a PULL method, which means you make your certificate available, and VW retrieves it from your system. Follow the steps below:

  1. Before sharing certificates, your EDC (Eclipse Dataspace Connector) must be properly registered.

How to check: Dataspace OS -> Navigate to Components -> Select your EDC component -> Scroll down to EDC Registration

    Status should be: Registered

    If not registered:

Click Register -> Confirm the action

2. Next, upload your certificate and make it visible to Volkswagen. Follow the guide here.

Make sure discoverability is enabled, so VW can access your certificate.

3. Since VW uses the PULL method, there is no manual sending step.

  • Volkswagen will retrieve the certificate directly from your EDC

  • No confirmation is shown in the Certificate Management interface

How to Check if VW or any other partner accessed your certificate (Advanced)

Currently, there is no direct monitoring in the Certificate Management UI. However, you can verify access manually:

Check Contract Negotiations

  1. Go to Components

  2. Open your EDC component

  3. Navigate to Contract Negotiations

  4. Filter by:

    • Role: Provider

Identify the Partner

  1. Click on an Agreement ID

  2. Locate the Connector ID field - This is usually a BPNL

Match the BPNL to a Company

  1. Go to Cofinity-X Portal

  2. Navigate to:

    • Dataspace Participation -> Partner Network

  3. Search for the BPNL

This allows you to confirm which company (e.g. Volkswagen) accessed your certificate.
