Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data lets you share the greenhouse gas emissions of your products with your OEMs, following the Catena-X standard CX-0136. Once your PCF data is uploaded, it's published as a digital twin and can be exchanged in two ways:
Path 1: Synchronous - if the data is already available, your OEM pulls it directly and instantly through a digital twin registry.
Path 2: Asynchronous - if it isn't available yet, the OEM's request appears in the Dataspace OS PCF so you can respond once it's ready.
Follow the steps below in order to get set up.
Prerequisites
Before you can exchange PCF data, make sure:
You've signed the required data governance credentials. Find the guide here: Request the Governance Credential
Your EDC (Eclipse Dataspace Connector) is registered. Follow: Managing EDC registration
The PCF app is activated in Dataspace OS. If haven't purchased yet PCF application in Dataspace OS, please reach out to our sales team: [email protected]
Prepare and upload your PCF data
Prepare PCF data for the products you know your OEMs will request. Use the PCF submodel version your OEM requires.
For both versions there is a strict validation schema of the required values. Please see below the human readable format of the validation to help you prepare the data easier:
Version 9.0.0: Prepare PCF data - 9.0.0
Version 7.0.0: Prepare PCF data - 7.0.0
Note: Dataspace OS does not calculate PCF values for you - please bring your own calculated data or explore the available PCF Calculation Application in Cofinity-X Portal Marketplace.
Path 1: Synchronous - Upload you PCF data as a digital twin
You can upload it in two ways. Please Navigate to PCF Data -> Own PCF -> Upload PCF data:
Single upload: enter PCF data one product at a time in JSON format.
Bulk upload: download the sample CSV template in the app and upload up to 50 products at once.
Once uploaded in the PCF section of the app, each product is automatically saved as a digital twin — no separate actions required.
As this is a synchronous process, once the OEM requests the PCF data for the product already uploaded by you, the request will be automatically completed, therefore, there is no action required from your side.
Path 2: Asynchronous - Respond to incoming PCF requests
If the PCF data isn't available and uploaded yet, the request appears in the Dataspace OS application in the section Received requests. Prepare the PCF data for that product, then respond to the request directly in the application.
Navigate to Received requests -> identify the incoming request -> provide the PCF data in the JSON format. Once the request status is Complete, the PCF data exchange is completed.
