This article explains how a legal entity can join the data space as a managed partner under a managing participant.
A managed partner is a legal entity that is represented and maintained by another active company in the data space. This onboarding path is intended for companies that want to participate under centralized management instead of setting up full participation independently.
As managed partner, you will be represented by the managing company from the data management perspective (BPNL, BPNS and BPNA).
No wallet provided.
No Portal access provided.
* the topic of transferring data impersonating a sublegal entity is still being worked on in the Catena-X Association, being a Managed Partner means only that your managing company is allowed to represent you and create sites and addresses for you.
How to onboard as a managed partner

3. Complete your company data and select a managing participant
In the Company Data step:
Enter your legal entity information completely and accurately
In the Managed by another company field, select the company that should manage your legal entity
Only eligible companies can be selected as managing participants, so make sure you have agreed internally which company should manage your legal entity before submitting the request.
Submit your onboarding request
What happens next
After submission:
Cofinity-X reviews your request
If approved, the request becomes visible to the selected managing participant
The managing participant can accept or decline the request
If accepted, the managed relationship is established
Once the process is completed successfully, the managing participant becomes responsible for centrally maintaining the supported company data for your legal entity.
Important things to note
Onboarding as a managed partner, meaning being managed by another company, does not incur costs
If the Managed by another company field is left empty and the registration is submitted, your company will be onboarded with its own wallet and portal access, which does incur costs
Managed participants do not need their own portal access, wallet, or EDC
If the request is declined, the managed relationship is not created
A managed relationship cannot currently be ended directly in the portal
If your company no longer wants to be managed, please contact
