Set Up and Onboard a Managed Legal Entity

Updated today

This article explains how an active legal entity can act as a managing participant for its other legal entities in the data space.

The managing participant is the Catena-X registered main legal entity that is already active in the data space. They can review requests from its other legal entities, accept or decline them, and centrally maintain supported company information for those legal entities.

A managed partner is a legal entity that is represented and maintained by another active company in the data space.

As managed partner, your managing company is allowed to represent you and create sites and addresses for you.

Only the portal user role "Company admin" can view the Managing companies tab under "Your company".

Step 1 - Enable your company as a managing participant

In the portal, navigate to Your Company.

A tab called Managing Companies is available there for this feature. To allow your other legal entities to select your company during onboarding, enable your company as a managing participant in the network.

Logout from your account and proceed to the next step.

Step 2 - Start onboarding the legal entity to be managed

Fill out the onboarding form here: https://www.cofinity-x.com/onboarding#contact.

After submitting the onboarding form, follow the invitation steps as described here to complete your registration:

If you need beta access for testing, please contact [email protected]

Step 3 - Complete the company data and select the managing participant

During registration, complete the company data carefully and enter the legal entity information in full.

In the Managed by another company field, select the company that should manage this legal entity.

Step 4 - Submit the onboarding request

Submit the onboarding request once all company information has been completed.

After submission, Cofinity-X reviews your request and either declines or approves it. This may take up to 2 working days.

Once approved, the request becomes visible to the selected managing participant.

Step 5 - Review and process incoming requests

As a managing participant, login once more to your main legal entity portal account.

In the Managing Companies tab, the managing participant can see incoming requests from legal entities that want to be managed by that company.

For each request, review the details carefully and then decide whether to:

  • Accept the request, which establishes the managed relationship

  • Decline the request, which stops the process

What happens after a request is accepted

After you accept a request:

  • the managed relationship is established and onboarding begins.

  • this takes an average of 2 working days to be fully processed.

  • the managing participant becomes responsible for centrally maintaining supported company information for that legal entity

  • the managing participant can now create and maintain sites (BPNS) and addresses (BPNA) for the managed legal entity

  • the BPNL is created automatically and cannot be edited
